vs. 33
- 1. The Perfect will for Israel was the Land of Canaan - A
Type of the Abundant Life, Revival,
the Spirit-filled life.
- 2. Canaan was a Fertile Land, Abundance of Fruit - Took
two men to carry back one bunch of grapes.
- 3. The Perfect Will of God is a blending of the
Positional Will and the Personal Will of God.
Positionally they were out of Egypt but personally they must
enter Canaan.
- 4. Faith and Obedience - They had enough Faith to come
out of Egypt but Disobeyed about going into Canaan.
- They trusted Moses as Redeemer but would not obey him
as Ruler
- 5. I’m afraid many Christians and Churches are on the
Devil’s merry go Round, in the same Rut and Routine,
day in and day out. Many are not in the Perfect Will of God, but
miserable in the Permissive Will of God.
- 6. Notice the 5 Experience of Israel on the Devil’s Merry
Go Round.
- I. A PERIOD OF WANDERING
- vs. 33 - 40 years - 11/2 years from Egypt to Kadesh Barnea.
371/2 years wandering, and 1 year entering.
- A. Bible Places of
Wandering
- 1. Numbers 33:19-36 - Israel went to 16 different
places during the
- wanderings.
- a. Dissatisfaction - A sign of wandering
- 2. Numbers 33:36 - Israel’s farthest journey was
Ezion-gaber just
- 75 miles or a week’s journey.
- 3. Deut. 1:46 - Indicates Israel came back to
Kadesh many times -
- God has a way of causing you to remember your
disobedience.
- B. Bible Principles of Wandering - God
will bring you back to the
- same spot in your life, over and over again,
until he gets you into
- submission. God brought them face to face with
their Disobedience.
- 1. God brings the Christian back to the point of
Rebellion until you
- either die out of the will of God or break
into Submission.
- a. Pastors change Church - Still face Same
Sin, Same Submission
- Problem
- b. Parents face same Situations, Sins,
Submission problems
- c. People face same Sins & Submission
problems though they
- move to a different place.
- 2. If the same Problem keeps coming up - God is
trying to get you
- to see your sin and your disobedience.
- 3. Whatever the Problem, it brings a Halt in you
Christian
- Experience. You will not mature, grow, get
victory, until sin or
- disobedience is dealt with.
- 4. Notice - They did not lose their Salvation or
God’s Supply - But
- they were just
Existing.
- II. A PERIOD OF WASTE
- vs. 33 “wasted in the wilderness”
- A. One life time wasted - 19 year old
was 59 years old when they
- entered Canaan.
- 1. Many came near Jordan and said, “That’s where
I was going to
- build my house, raise my children, plant my
crops, build God’s
- house.
- 2. Many in Disobedience are dreaming their life
away - Going to do
- something for God but spend a lifetime in
unbelief & disobedience
- B. One Sin Wasted Israel
- 1. What is the one Sin, That one disobedient No
to the Will of God.
- 2. Is it some Pleasure, Position, Passion,
Person. Some Temptation,
- Wrong Action, Place of Service, A Call, A
Habit, An Uncontrolled
- Temper, Super Spiritual Attitude, Sin of
Flesh.
- 3. When you say no to God - Your Christian life
will stop and
- wasted years will set in.
- III. A
Period of Whoredoms
- A.
Bear the Burden - Memory -
They had plenty of time to
- Remember How it could have been.
- 1. 40 years of saying “If I had it to do over”
- 2. Most miserable death-dying-remembering how it
could have been
- 3. Guilty Conscious - Knowing You’re Going to
the Judgment Seat.
- a. With a Record that can’t be Erased
- b. With Opportunities to get right with God
gone forever
- c. With an Eternity reflecting upon a life
that failed to deal with
- Sin or a life in Disobedience to the
Perfect Will of God.
- d. With hands dripping with blood because of
souls in Hell.
- e. With Children Raised Wrong
- f. With a Church Defeated
- 4. When you don’t do everything God tells you,
you’ll live with a
- memory.
- a. Sin - David said “My sin is ever before
me”
- b. Disobey - Hebrews 10 - Live under
judgment when we
- willfully disobey.
- B. Bear the Barrier
- 1. Saying no to God
is not as Easy as you might think
- 2. It is Easier to get out of the Will of God
than it is to get back into
- the Will of God
- 3. One Sin of Unbelief, One Disobedient Act -
Caused them to
- Wander a Year for every Day. 40 years for 40
days
- a. Backslide - Take time to get back
- IV. A PERIOD OF WAILING
- vs. 33
- A. Age of Death - Everyone 20 years and
older died
- 1. Point: God is not going to let you get in with
the Old Carcasses
- that Disobeyed
- a. He’ll let you look at Canaan but he’ll not
let you experience it.
- 2. Jordan River - Picture of Death to Self
- B. Amount of Deaths - 1,200,000 People
died. In approximately
- 14,000 days they had 85 Deaths a day. Every 12
hours of daylight
- they buried an average of 7 People an hour for
371/2 years.
- 1. Disobedience will cause you to never enjoy your
Christian life.
- 2. Death will take place to all your worldly
ambitions. No matter
- what you try, the stench of death will hover
over it.
- V. A PERIOD OF WAGES
- It costs to say NO to God!!!
- A. Events that took Place
During the Wanderings
- 1. Korah rebelled - Num. 16 - Rebellion will
spring up in the heart
- 2. Miriam dies - Num. 20:1 - Picture of Jot - Joy
Dies
- 3. Aaron dies - Num. 20:28 - Can pray while
wandering
- 4. Moses gets mad - Num. 20:11 - Discouragement
sets in
- 5. Edomites - Num. 20:18 - Old Sins come back to
bother them
- CONCLUSION: Are you
tired of being in a rut? Same old Life?
